Default ご支援 - help please

Hi ten_zero san or patmals,

can you please tell me what this message means.

I just bought a new Intel iMac and had to install all the new Euclid plug-ins again. Since it´s to complicated for me to figure out how to install them as suggested in the tool box manual, i did it like in the past. I created a folder in my Shade folder, named it "Euclid Series", ran Apple Script and started the plug-in´s one by one and recorded those sessions, so that i have a script for each plug-in in my scripts folder. In Shade the Scripts appear correctly in the Scripts Menu and i can start each plug-in properly. But when using the plug-in´s i get the above message.

I found an euclid.py with 0 bytes in the tool box plug-in folder along with another one, but don´t know what to do with them...:-(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards
Stefan

Please can you tell me, what and where the Euclid plug-ins are?
Gratulation for your iMac - I had to wait for the i7-iMac for two months. But it is a great engine (rendering times in seconds).
Did you also see that the Apple command sign in the Beginners Tutorial was a 0, and in the Quick Ref something like a H. I don't know if I had this told Lynn.

So have a nice week.

Hi Jürgen,

the Euclid progams from Toshiaki Katoh san supercharge Shade on OSX in functionallity and i can´t live without them anymore. You can do so much
with those programs like for example offsetting lines or surfaces, bevel polygon mesh edges, boolean open lines together, sweep profiles correctly,
create caps for curved surfaces and so much much more. Simply killer stuff!

You can see also some things here in the Gallery which i did with it´s included Data Plotter and Math Modeler.

You can find the progams here:

http://www.ne.jp/asahi/t/katoh/

Take a look there at all the movies so that you get an idea how those superb programs work.

Regards
Stefan

Hi Jürgen,

couldn´t reply completely in the morning because i was busy at work.

The iMac i bought is not the new 21´or 27´, instead i bought a new 24´2.93 iMac which Gravis still has in stock. I did that because of the IMO better Graphics Card (NVidia GT120) versus NVidia 9400M which is in the current line of the 21´, and i need that better graphics card performance not for Shade but for modo, which is quite an graphics card intensive app.

About the Beginner´s tut, no i didn´t saw that yet.

Have a nice week too, and about the Euclid plug-ins i can only answer more questions once my current issue is solved.

Until then happy shading
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
My Japanese is bad (still learning it, Shade too) but it looks as if Shade and Euclid can't find the file euclid.py.
I had a look at the guide, thanks for including the link, and it seems that this file needs to be in Shade's shortcuts. I think that the guide says....

In Shade open the shortcut pallet and select a space (guide uses position 0), click on that and in the scripts option browse to euclid.py and select it.

Start the Euclid application and open preference. In that chose the Shade shortcut you chose in Shade (0 in the guide).

I haven't used Euclid and I'm still learning Shade but I hope this may give you some ideas.

Thanks a lot for the tips Bowring, much appreciated!

On work i checked the documentation also again, but could not use Google Translator along with the pdf´s because on the work system there are no Japanese Fonts installed. So i will carefully "read" them again at home.

I will try it out tomorrow if my time allows and post my findings then.

The Euclid programs are really worth exploring.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards
Stefan

That's great!
I felt a bit shy offering tips on a plug in I have never used, written in a language that I'm still learning for a program I've just started.

Thanks again for the link. I had a good look at the demo movies and when I get used to the stock Shade I'm going to try the Euclid programs. They do look very useful and powerful.

No worry to feel shy. :-) You must be pretty good with Japanese, if you understand also those technical terms, i assume. I hope you will have as much fun as we do have when it comes to learning Shade. And yes, the Euclid plug-ins are a welcome and powerful addition. I believe you will like them as much as i do.

Regards
Stefan
