Juanmanuel, Sorry I wrote your name wrong. Do you have an idea what would be the maximum file size for Shade to handle with 4 GB SDRAM and 256 VRAM? I'm still thinking of buying a new Mac with 16 GB SDRAM and 512 VDRAM and quad core Intel processor. Would that improve the max file size to handle for Shade much? In the end I would like to build a model of the Parthenon, with all the important details like the sculptures, paintings and materials. A walk-through model ready for animation.
May be a bit too ambitious, but I like to try it.

Ron.

I think it is quite possible. I have just 8gb ram, and can pretty much render anything I throw at Shade, so you should not have a problem with double that amount!
I'll look at your second column and let you know.
And start working on a column-making tutorial

You know, you could reduce the filesize a bit using noise shaders to do that marble look...

Juanmanuel, Thanks for looking at my second column and setting up this tutorial.
Your answer about the Mac is very reassuring for me. I don't know what a noise shader is, but I'll find out from the electronic manual.

Juanmanuel, I don't see the attachment. It's not sent I think.
